Europe's disease agency says Congo's latest reports leave out 314 Ituri deaths, as death counts split three ways; Kenya and Uganda weigh the cost of reporting
Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · 7 min

ECDC's November 3 update puts Congo at 10,532 confirmed Ebola cases and 5,126 deaths and says 314 Ituri deaths added on October 31 are missing from the next two reports, while Africa CDC counts 5,376 deaths. In Kenya and Uganda, more travel restrictions and a closed border are raising the question of whether reporting an outbreak gets a country punished.
