The Danielle lawsuit is moving into a tougher court phase — and ADOR has already changed legal teams. Welcome back to NewJeans Daily. And yeah, today is the kind of update that feels heavier before it feels clearer. We’re unpacking what hard pleadings means in legal terms, ADOR’s new counsel, and Min Heejin showing up at a university rally with a pretty pointed message. Danielle is heading into a courtroom fight, and MHJ is out there making speeches about resistance. So, yeah — a lot is happening, and nothing is actually resolved yet. From Shawn at KSTATION TV:
The lawsuit for damages in the amount of 430 billion won filed by ADOR, the agency of the girl group NEWJEANS, against member DANIELLE and former CEO MIN HEE JIN, enters a phase of fierce legal battle.
Tomorrow at 3:10 PM Seoul time, the Seoul Central District Court has the first full pleading date in ADOR’s 430-billion-won damages suit against Danielle and Min Hee Jin. And just to be precise, this is not a verdict — it’s the court hearing both sides for the first time. 430 billion won. Against a member. People really need to sit with that number for a second, because that does not read like simple protection of company interests. ADOR says the members planned their own departure and then deliberately delayed coming back, which they say caused the damages. Danielle’s legal team is disputing that. We also know Haerin, Hyein, and Hanni rejoined ADOR after last October’s ruling — and Minji’s status in the article is cut off, so I’m not going to pretend we know more than we do. And that missing piece is doing a ton of work for fan anxiety right now, honestly. OT5 clarity still isn’t here, and now Danielle has court tomorrow. From allkpop:
ADOR has appointed four new legal representatives amid its ongoing legal dispute involving Danielle.
According to reports on May 12, ADOR recently appointed four attorneys from Law Firm 'Rihan' and immediately submitted a request for a change in the court schedule.
ADOR just reshuffled its legal team right before tomorrow’s first official hearing — Kim & Chang is out, Law Firm Rihan is in, and Rihan already asked to change the schedule. So yes, it’s procedural. But it’s also a reset, and it’s happening right on top of the hearing date. And Rihan also represents Bang Si Hyuk in his capital market case, so you know fans are going to run with that. I get why people are connecting those dots, but what keeps jumping out to me is ADOR still going after 31 million dollars from Danielle specifically. To be exact, ADOR says Danielle and Min Hee Jin are jointly responsible. The damages claim links their departures to alleged losses from delayed activity. Whether that argument holds is exactly what May 14 is there to start sorting out. One of the members. They are suing one of the members. I’m going to keep saying it plainly, because corporate language loves to make that disappear. Here's The Asia Business Daily:
She cited the 'essence' of music as the reason for establishing an independent label. CEO Min said, "I started the label because I wanted to make music," and argued, "If the fundamentals are solid, it becomes an industry in itself, and those who focus on the essence can change the trend."
Min Heejin gave a lecture at Chonnam National University in Gwangju on May 12th, timed to the 46th anniversary of the May 18 Democratization Movement. Her remarks touched on historical memory, cultural policy, and why she says she launched OK Records. The “change comes from resistance” line is going to hit differently depending on who’s listening — and I think she knows that. She’s not exactly being subtle about the comparison she’s making to her own situation. She also made a direct argument that when capital dominates creative spaces, artists need a shield to protect them. That’s the clearest public framing yet of what she says OK Records is for. Worth keeping as context, not as confirmation of anything NewJeans-related. I hear that. But Bunnies are not going to separate those two things easily. When she says “protect artists,” they’re thinking about five very specific people. If something in today’s briefing caught your ear, the show notes have links to every story and all the sources we used. Take a look there for the full context.
