The Indiana Fever (21-12) finish their homestand on Friday, as the Dallas Wings (19-14) come to Indianapolis before the Fever embark on a five game road trip starting Sunday. For the Fever, Caitlin Clark is coming off of a 22 point double-double, while Kelsey Mitchell enters the matchup on a 17-game streak of 20 or more points.
Friday at 7:30 on ION, it’s the last one at Gainbridge before five straight road games. And Dallas at 19-14 is no ceremonial send-off opponent. No. At 21-12, the Fever are right there with the 19-14 Wings, and every possession matters in that crowded playoff tier. Kelsey Mitchell has 17 straight games with at least 20 points. Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale will get the marquee attention, but Mitchell is who Dallas has to solve first. Good luck with that when Clark is coming off a 22-point double-double and Boston just showed she can step out and hit threes. In their latest 106-92 victory over the Liberty, the Fever offense extended its historic single-season mark to 15 total games with 100+ points, the most by any team in WNBA history.
Fifteen 100-point games. Fifteen. MARCA says that’s the WNBA single-season record, so Dallas better bring more than a “make Caitlin work” defensive plan. It’s because Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aliyah Boston are averaging more points than any trio in league history. You can shade toward Clark, but Mitchell has 17 straight 20-point games, and Boston punishes smaller coverage inside. And Mitchell is up against Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale tonight, two names guaranteed to own the highlights. Fine—then keep the camera on Kelsey when she gets to 18, 20, 24 again. Dallas is 19-14, Indiana is 21-12, and both are in that home-court scrum. The Wings got the first meeting 107-104, so Indiana’s offense has to show it can hold up in a possession game. The response to DiJonai Carrington's Flagrant 2 on Sophie Cunningham sparked real anger, but a president publicly backing her coach before a playoff push makes the message clear. Micah Beckwith calling for a firing did not need to become the Fever's whole week. Krauskopf answered it. White's still coaching, and Indiana is 21-12—put the energy into Dallas and this road trip.
