What makes this particularly fascinating is the timing. Two sets, the 75454 Imperial Remnant AT-AT and the 75453 Offworld Sandcrawler, are slated for an August 1st release, with pre-orders already live. Initially, these were expected to be around for a good while, with a retirement date set for the end of 2028. Now, however, they’re slated to vanish by July 31, 2028.

Shelf life shaved off sets nobody's been able to buy yet. That scarcity call was made at the planning desk, not by the market. Right, and this is the part that kills me. Every time a reseller flips a retired set, the community calls it manipulation. But LEGO moving the retirement clock before launch — that gets called 'strategic maneuvering.' The secondary-market guys are reading a scarcity signal. LEGO's the one who sent it. And it's not just the new sets. The late-April ones — the Razor Crest, the Grogu apprentice set — are getting trimmed too. So this isn't one SKU misbehaving. It's a licensed line with its runway managed top to bottom. Buy now or the free plastic disappears. And the part that gets me: they're calling this a quiet month. Twelve new sets, a two-twenty-nine pinball machine, a four-fifty Technic flagship, and that's quiet. Quiet by 2026 standards. Five years ago, this calendar would've looked like a heavy month, easy. Right, the baseline moved and nobody flinched. Put that GWP window next to the Mandalorian shelf-life move we just hit — short timers on the front end, short timers on the back end. LEGO controls when you feel the pressure, and they're tightening both screws. Same pattern: manufactured scarcity baked into the calendar. The Mandalorian sets get pulled early, the Koenigsegg freebie evaporates in six days — same engineering, different end of the funnel. None of it's organic supply.
