Ten years in, four solo careers deep, and BLACKPINK is still charting ground no girl group has touched. Welcome to the briefing. This is BLACKPINK Daily Podcast. Today we’ve got the 10th anniversary celebration, some serious Hot 100 history, and Lisa apparently performing at a World Cup. The World Cup, Devin — the WORLD CUP — so yeah, we’re starting there emotionally and then we’ll circle back to the chart stuff, which is also completely unhinged in the best way. We’re starting with the anniversary because OT4 news comes first. The solo wins are right behind it, and there are a lot of those today. From Mid-day:
BLACKPINK is reportedly preparing a series of special fan focused events to celebrate the group’s upcoming 10th anniversary. According to multiple Korean media reports, YG Entertainment is planning several projects around the group’s debut anniversary on August 8, with members Lisa, Rose, Jennie, and Jisoo expected to actively participate in the celebrations.
August 8th, 2026 — ten years since BLACKPINK debuted, and Korean media says YG is already building anniversary plans: concerts, exclusive content, merchandise, the whole thing. All four members are expected to take part. Nothing official yet, but multiple Korean outlets are on it, and that matters. OT4 for the 10th. That’s the headline. After everything — the hiatuses, the solo eras, the contract drama — all four showing up for the decade mark would be huge. I’m trying not to spiral and failing a little. Spiral, but with receipts. YG hasn’t confirmed the details, so we’re still in the “preparations underway” lane. Still, August 8th is a real date with real weight, and I’d expect something official before too long. it makes me so happy to see the aespa girls and BLACKPINK girls together happy and having a good time. I'm glad the BLACKPINK girls were there so the aespa girls wouldn't feel overwhelmed and alone at the Met Gala like the BLACKPINK girls were during their first Met Gala.
Sweet sentiment, wrong thread, though. That said, BLACKPINK at the Met shepherding aespa through their first one? Honestly, that image is adorable. Good fandom energy. Just the wrong post. Here's one from r/BlackPink (53 upvotes):
Dang, Jisoo couldn't have asked for a better set of attendees to be around with her for her 1st Met Gala, esp when she said she was nervous: * Her BP girls * Ahn Hyo-seop who she worked with on Omniscient Reader * Hoyeon, pilates buddy * Karina who she's gotten close to as well
Okay, I love this one. Jisoo said she was nervous, and she walked in with her BP members, her drama co-star, her pilates buddy, and Karina. That’s not a Met Gala, that’s a support group in couture. Again, this is Met Gala reaction stuff attached to an anniversary story. But Jisoo having that kind of circle around her is genuinely a moment worth flagging on its own. Now, Jennie becomes the second member of BLACKPINK to reach the Hot 100’s top 10 as a solo artist, following Rosé, whose collaboration with Bruno Mars titled "APT." climbed to No. 3 in February 2025. This achievement puts BLACKPINK among an exclusive group of acts with multiple women members who have solo Hot 100 top 10 hits.
Billboard Hot 100, May 16 chart — Jennie’s "Dracula" with Tame Impala lands at number ten. That makes her the second BLACKPINK member to hit the Hot 100 top ten as a solo artist, after Rosé’s "APT." went to number three in February 2025. Rosé goes to number three with Bruno Mars, and now Jennie’s crashing the top ten with Kevin Parker. BLACKPINK is building a chart legacy one member at a time, and I need everybody to clock that. The company they’re in is genuinely elite. We’re talking Destiny’s Child tier — groups where multiple women went solo and still moved the biggest chart in the world. That’s not a stan take, that’s a Billboard fact. And "Dracula" is a collab nobody saw coming. Tame Impala and Jennie is such a weird, cool swing, and it paid off. That’s exactly the kind of taste-forward move that makes this solo run feel different. TEMPO.CO, with Dewi Elvia Muthiariny:
Announcing the news on Instagram, FIFA revealed a dazzling roster that includes Katy Perry, Michael Bublé, and LISA of BLACKPINK. Set to become the biggest FIFA World Cup ever staged, the competition will kick off with three spectacular opening ceremonies, taking place before the first match in each host country.
FIFA just made it official — LISA is on the 2026 World Cup opening ceremony lineup for the United States, alongside Katy Perry, Anitta, Tyla, and Rema. That came from a FIFA Instagram announcement, so this is confirmed, not rumor. LISA. On the World Cup stage. In Los Angeles. In front of the entire planet. I need everybody to understand the scale here — this isn’t a brand event, this is one of the biggest sporting ceremonies on Earth. And it puts her on a global mainstream stage that goes way beyond the K-pop lane. She’s listed with acts that have nothing to do with that world, which says a lot about where her solo profile sits right now. The people who said LISA’s solo era had a ceiling can log off. June 12th, LA, World Cup opening ceremony — that’s the receipt. HAN Hyunjung, writing in MK:
The global standard K-pop chart, KM Chart, said it has unveiled the nominees in six categories for its May 2026 monthly chart and will hold voting through the 24th. Artists with both musicality and popularity were widely included in each category, signaling a heated race.
KM Chart dropped its May 2026 monthly nominees, and BLACKPINK’s "GO" is in the K-Music category — 50 songs in the field, with voting open through the 24th. Fifty songs, and "GO" is in there. Okay, BLINKs, you know what to do. This is not the time to sleep on a chart vote. They’re also up in the K-Music Artist category with BTS, LE SSERAFIM, Stray Kids, and IVE. That is a genuinely stacked field, not a soft ballot. And that’s why it would mean more if they win. I’d rather BLACKPINK beat a real competitive lineup than coast through a slow month. You’ll find links to everything we talked about today in the show notes, so if something caught your ear, that’s the place to keep reading.
That’s BLACKPINK Daily Podcast for this Wednesday, May 13th. This is a Lantern Podcast.
