The start-up, founded in 2024, is racing to create humanoid robots that will automate factory work, build futuristic mega-cities, and, most strikingly, wage the wars of tomorrow. The company, which is reportedly valued north of $1 billion, has massive ambitions. It also has massive opposition to its core idea.
So Anthropic drew a line on autonomous weapons and got tagged a supply-chain risk. Meanwhile, Foundation Future Industries, valued north of a billion, is advertising that it has no line at all. Co-founder Sankaet Pathak told The Independent’s Josh Marcus he’d build armed robots — quote — “tomorrow” if the U.S. military asked. The company was founded in 2024, with plans for humanoid robots in factories and mega-cities — and in the wars of tomorrow. So one company writes a restriction into its acceptable-use policy and gets flagged as a risk. Meanwhile, the one saying “ask me anytime” faces nothing. If the Pentagon’s supply-chain standard punishes the company with the guardrail, what exactly is that standard protecting? And “tomorrow” is the honest part. No euphemism, no “national security” fog — Pathak just says the quiet thing on the record. Meanwhile, Pope Leo’s out with an encyclical saying AI has to be “disarmed.” Same news cycle, opposite planets. And that sharpens the “meaningful human oversight” language in Anthropic’s own ban. The Senate Armed Services Committee just approved FY2027 text demanding exactly that — meaningful human oversight, with no AI on the nuclear trigger.
