Angel City’s Orlando loss gets the highlight-reel treatment (June 17, 2026)

June 17, 2026 · 2m 6s · Listen

Well, the unbeaten run has a scoreline on it now — Orlando, 3-2, and the highlight reel doesn't flatter anybody. This is the Angel City Daily Podcast — I'm Sarah, with Joey. Today, the first loss of the season is on tape, and two names worth circling: McCutcheon, and a Gisele Thompson stunner. And a late winner that looks awfully familiar. Stick around — we're getting into it. From the source:

It was vintage NWSL After Dark in Orlando as the Pride and Angel City FC battled to the final whistle. Haley McCutcheon led the way with a brace, while Gisele Thompson answered with a stunning equalizer from distance. McCutcheon had the final say, grabbing a late winner to hand Angel City their first loss of the season.

So it's on tape now: 3-2 in Orlando, McCutcheon with a brace, and that late winner — Angel City's first loss of the season. And look how it happened. A late winner. Same final-ten-minutes problem we saw against Carolina, just a different jersey doing the damage this time. That's the part that makes it a pattern for me. Two competitive matches in a row, both lost in the closing minutes. The back line has cracked late twice now, almost on schedule. And the one goal we do get? Gisele Thompson from distance. A stunner, sure, but if your offense is solving games with a thirty-yard prayer instead of the cutbacks you actually build toward, something's off in the final third.
