The NWSL table is a mess through six matchweeks, and Angel City needs to figure out where they fit in it before LA28 puts this city under a microscope. Welcome to Angel City Daily Fancast. Today we're digging into the league chaos at the top and what it says about where ACFC actually stands right now. And the club's building real momentum off the pitch ahead of LA28, so yeah, we're checking whether the soccer is keeping up with all of it. Phuoc Nguyen, writing in Yahoo Sports:
After a chaotic matchweek six in the National Women’s Soccer League, where do teams stand? Here are the latest power rankings: 16. Chicago Stars (-2) | Latest Results: 0-2 loss vs Gotham FC & 0-2 loss vs Portland Thorns
Matchweek 6 power rankings are out, and Portland's at number one after taking down Chicago on the road. Washington Spirit and Gotham both went perfect on the week, so the top of the league is sorting itself out in real time. And meanwhile Angel City is watching all of this from wherever they are in that table, which is exactly where I want our attention. Portland, Gotham, Washington — those are the clubs setting the standard right now. That's the bar. Chicago dropping both home games 0-2 is rough. They were supposed to have home advantage and got nothing from it. For a team already trying to find its footing, that's a concerning pattern. From PR Newswire:
Ottobock, a global leader in prosthetics and orthotics, is proud to continue its longstanding partnership with Angel City Sports at the 2026 Angel City Games this June. Together, the organizations will once again deliver the Full Circle Movement event and The Athlete's Corner, reinforcing a shared commitment to expanding access to adaptive sport and building momentum toward the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
This one is adjacent to Angel City FC, but worth a flag. Angel City Sports and Ottobock are expanding their partnership ahead of the 2026 Angel City Games in June, with adaptive sport programming tied to the LA28 Paralympic build-up. Angel City Sports does real work in the community — the Games, the adaptive athlete pipeline, all of it. But I'll be honest, every time I see 'Angel City' in a headline I have to stop and check whether we're actually talking about the soccer club. Different org, same city energy. The LA28 runway is lifting a lot of local sports stories right now, and Angel City Sports just happens to have a two-year head start with the Games already established. If one of today's stories sent you down a rabbit hole, we've put the links in the show notes so you can read more and follow the details for yourself.
