A confidential IPO filing from an AI data-center operator is about to put some very public demands on investor cash. This is AI IPO Watch. Today, the physical side of the AI boom heads toward the market. We’re asking who gets paid, who gets diluted, and what the headline leaves out. Switch is first. The filing is confidential; the stakes are not. One tap on follow, and we'll be back in your ears before you know it. From Alex Torres at Pivot News:
Data center operator Switch has confidentially filed for a US initial public offering with the SEC, according to a CryptoBriefing report crediting datacenterknowledge.com. Because the filing is confidential, the terms have not been made public by the company, and the figures come from a single account. CryptoBriefing dates the filing to early August 2026 and says a listing could follow as soon as November 2026.
Switch is first out on the physical side: a former public company, taken private by DigitalBridge and IFM in 2022, now reportedly aiming for a November return. AI labs can stay mysterious. A data-center operator has to show who’s paying for the buildings. And pull apart the headline before it gets repeated all day: the reported $80 billion includes debt, while the raise is up to $10 billion. Those are very different numbers, especially for a sponsor-owned re-listing. Confidential means the SEC can review the filing without public terms. It doesn’t make the reported November target a confirmed timetable. We do have the bank roster, though: Goldman and JPMorgan leading, with BofA, Citi, and Morgan Stanley retained. For a deal this large, that lineup deserves more attention than the round-number valuation. A November window puts Switch into a crowded fight for institutional allocations. You’ve got a $10 billion ask from an infrastructure owner with take-private debt, while capital is already sizing every other giant AI-adjacent offering. Only so many oversized tickets can fit in the book. Have feedback, story ideas, or a correction? Email us at aiipowatch at lantern podcasts dot com. We’re watching for a possible Switch listing as soon as November 2026, if its confidential filing proceeds to a public registration statement.
