Our take: Exactly — this is the transit argument in one commute. If the train reliably turns a 30-to-50-minute slog into about 20 minutes, that is not symbolism; that is useful city infrastructure.

Our take: We agree with the history check: big rail openings are usually the delayed fruit of political fights from a decade-plus ago. Credit where due — and also, an 18-year timeline is why LA has to get much faster at building the next pieces.
