Our take: We’d separate the moral outrage from the diplomatic mechanics here: a $300 billion reconstruction framework is politically explosive, but calling it the largest U.S. defeat in history assumes the money actually materializes and the war actually ends. Both are still very live questions.

Our take: This is the right place to look: the phrase “with regional partners” is doing a lot of work. If the U.S. is granting waivers and permissions while Gulf states or Europeans are expected to help finance reconstruction, the next fight may be over who writes the checks, not just who signs the MOU.

Our take: The profanity is doing overtime, but the fragility point is real: any 60-day process that includes Lebanon, Israel, Iran, U.S. sanctions, and Hormuz shipping has a lot of veto players. We wouldn’t reduce that to one leader, but one spoiler can absolutely wreck a narrow diplomatic window.
