“If you told me 6 months ago Arirang would have more album staying power than Bruno/Harry I would have thought you were joking. 2 whole months in the Top 10! Truly amazing!” — r/bangtan (126 upvotes)
Our take: We’re with this: two months in the Billboard 200 Top 10 is exactly the kind of staying power that makes a comeback feel less like a spike and more like a real era. The Bruno/Harry comparison is spicy, but that’s the point—ARMY is watching ARIRANG compete outside the usual K-pop frame.
“When music is good, people will listen. Arirang is unlike anything on the charts right now, and I’m a big Harry Styles fan. Our take: That “not their magnum opus” line is such a BTS-fan flex: celebrating a monster chart run while still insisting the ceiling is higher. We agree on the risk part—ARIRANG working commercially matters because it rewards them for not sanding down the weird, specific parts.
“Arirang is the first album I can honestly say went outside the kpop bubble. I’ve seen so many locals on social media who listened to it and liked it.” — r/kpop (38 upvotes)
Our take: The “locals” test is always a little messy, because social feeds can make every bubble look like the whole world. But the chart legs back up the feeling here: ARIRANG is clearly traveling beyond the people who were guaranteed to press play at midnight.
